Ekea! Year 12 Pathways for Māori at UC

This event gives Year 12 Māori students the opportunity to see how their current school subjects can relate and progress into degree programmes and to hear from current UC students about their university experiences.

The day will provide rangatahi Māori with:

  • Information about where subjects at school can lead in terms of degrees
  • Information about what students need to be aware of before university (entry requirements, scholarship info and course planning)
  • An opportunity to engage in whakawhanaungatanga with Māori support teams and tuākana.
  • The opportunity to hear experiences of ākonga Māori on campus and their journey to UC.

Venue: Undercroft, Puaka-James Hight, University of Canterbury, Ilam Campus.

  • Students are under the supervision of their school during this event.
  • UC photographers and videographers will be out and about on the day. These images may be used by the University of Canterbury in the future for online or print publications, and may be placed on official UC social media channels.


How to register

Your school is invited to bring Year 12 Māori students who show ability and/or an interest in attending university.
The programme for the morning will include subject sessions in:

  • Arts
  • Business
  • Education
  • Engineering
  • Law
  • Science
