Fencer

KC Fence Systems design, manufacture and install security and safety fencing solutions from their purpose built facility in Central Christchurch and are currently looking for someone to join their team.

Ideally this is a full time position, but  someone would be considered short term for the school holidays also.

A full Class 1 drivers licence is desirable but not essential. The position is available for immediate start, and the successful candidate would need to pass a pre-employment drug test.

JOB TITLE

· Fencer

PURPOSE

· To erect and repair fences to a high degree of workmanship.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· To align posts

· Dig post holes, using shovels or other tools or machinery

· Erect fences

· Repair fences

· Assist in factory with gate manufacturing.

· Any other duties as directed by Foreman/Managers

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Be punctual and work the hours and times specified.

· Prioritise workload to ensure work of the greatest importance to the business is undertaken with urgency and to a high standard.

· Support and help develop a positive workplace culture.

· Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills.

· Responsibly manage all business resources within accountability levels.

· Undertake all duties and responsibilities outlined in this job description and all other duties as required by the business.

· Comply with all employment obligations.

· Promptly undertake to complete all reasonable and lawful instructions and directions given.

Employment qualification – Site Safe

If you are intending to look for work on a construction site and would like to complete the Site Safe qualification prior to leaving school please drop in and speak with careers staff. This is an excellent qualification that will assist you in gaining part time and full time work.

The Foundation Passport – Building Construction introduces key topics including how to keep yourself safe, understanding and controlling risk, as well as basic hazards and legal requirements.

Cabinet maker/Joiner Apprenticeship

Aspen Joinery Ltd. currently has an opportunity available for someone who is keen to train and qualify as a cabinet maker/joiner.

We have had great success with a previous student of Ao Tawhiti. Cameron has recently qualified. He started with us 4 years ago with no experience. Today he is a skilled and qualified cabinet maker/joiner. He is adept not only in the workshop but on-site with installation. He manufactures joinery from both panel product and solid timber. He is the principal operator of our CNC and Edgebanding machines with responsibility for training others. He has also gained valuable experience as a programmer for our CNC.

We would like to offer the same opportunity to someone else. This position is currently not advertised and we are offering this in the first instance to potential secondary school leavers.

The candidate should be honest, have an interest in woodwork, be practical, have a good attitude to work and be keen to learn.

The apprentice will be trained in conjunction with BCITO.

We are Aspen Joinery, formally trading as Corbel Joinery and under new ownership since June 2017. We are a team of seven with a diverse range of skills. We cater to the residential, commercial and architectural markets (we have recently completed the first stage joinery fit out for Hornby High School) We work primarily with panel product (mdf/melamine) but regularly use solid timber in many of our projects. We are located at 3 Morse Road, Wigram.
