Volunteering Opportunity-Off the Wall Graffiti Programme

Full-time Vehicle Grooming position

 

A full-time vehicle grooming position exists with an Automotive panel and paint repairer. Duties include grooming vehicles that have been repaired and general work around the workshop.  There may potentially be an panel and paint apprenticeship opportunity in the future for the right candidate.

Applicants should possess positive work habits, a can-do attitude, a genuine interest in motor vehicles and have a current driver licence.

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Apprenticeship opportunity

Scarlett Hydraulics Ltd is one of New Zealand’s largest hydraulic companies providing international hydraulic solutions for the Agriculture, Construction, Forestry, Marine and Power Generation industry sectors since 1984.

Scarlett Hyraulics have an apprenticeship opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with their Hornby branch.

The successful applicant will work alongside senior tecs undertaking all types of hydraulic service work, fault finding and repairs, both on-site and in the workshop. The goal, to be part of the on call roster team and participating in installations and commissioning on international projects.

Applicants ideally will be good with their hands, practically minded, keen to learn, hardworking, and have achieved NCEA Mathematics level 2.

What we’re looking for

You’ll demonstrate passion for the chosen trade through your extra-curricular activities including any related project work with friends or family, getting involved with community groups or voluntary work, club sports, part-time jobs or any relevant work experience.

We have a few requirements you’ll need to enter the programme:

  • NCEA Level 2 Maths OR
  • NZQA Level 3 Certificate in relevant area
  • For Electrical only, you’ll need NCEA Level 2 Physics
  • Minimum Restricted Drivers Licence or Full

Your positive attitude and strong work ethic is the perfect starting point on this apprenticeship journey. Working in such a fast-changing environment means you’ll be adaptable to new processes and have the opportunity to use new machinery and technologies.

A willingness to drive your own learning throughout this programme will really make the difference, you’ll be able to think on your feet, have a tech-savviness about you and be confident with numbers.

Role:              Event Marshalling

This event (running and cycling) will be held at Corsair Bay.  The role will be to marshal corners/turns for participants – no prior experience required and specific time commitment will be confirmed.  An opportunity to be support by being involved at grass roots level with a sporting event.  .

This event will be held in Southbridge (30-45 minutes from Christchurch).  The role will be to marshal for participants – no prior experience required.  You will be required to be on site from approximately 8.30am to approximately 11am on the day of the event.  An opportunity to be involved and support at grass roots level a sporting event.

Important information regarding the process:

  • Should you be successful at progressing, you will be required to take our swim test and interview from 11 to 13 August 2021
  • If successful through the interview process you will be required to undertake two full days of lifeguard training followed by a lifeguard assessment to gain your formal Pool Lifeguard Qualification before you start your role. This will be provided to you by the Christchurch City Council. The course will be held on 6 to 7 September with the assessment day on 14 September.
  • Before the Lifeguard training assessment date you will need a Comprehensive First Aid Certificate
